Exam & Cleaning
Maintaining great oral health requires a mixture of both consistent at-home care as well as partnering with your dentist and hygienist on a regular basis for preventative maintenance. Every six months, we recommend coming into the office for a thorough exam and cleaning. To clean your teeth, our friendly hygienist will clean your mouth, teeth and gums in order to remove any hard-to-reach plaque or tartar as well as help you understand the best tips and tricks to maximize the effects of your at-home care routine.
During the visit, your dentist will examine your teeth and gums – checking for any signs of decay or disease – and will discuss any findings with you in order to help you fully understand any treatments recommended. In order to assist your dentist to identify any issues that may be hard to observe during a dental examination, x-rays may be taken during your appointment.
Tooth extractions are a common procedure in dentistry, but at Bender Dental Care we strive to provide preventative dental care whenever possible in order to avoid unnecessary extractions. When extractions become necessary, we understand that it can seem daunting, nerve-wracking, or just downright a little frightening. That’s why our dentists specialize in partnering with our patient’s to help them feel comfortable and confident throughout the procedure.
Scaling & Root Planing
Scaling and root planing is a term used to describe a deep cleaning that involves cleaning below the gumline in order to combat periodontal disease. When plaque, or the sticky film that builds up on teeth over time, forms on the teeth and isn’t removed, the bacteria can cause inflammation in the gums. When gums are frequently inflamed, they pull away from the surface of the tooth, creating pockets. Once these pockets have formed, the plaque and bacteria that are trapped inside can no longer be removed with regular brushing and flossing.
Periodontal disease can negatively affect many aspects of your health other than your oral health if left untreated. Our team of experts is experienced in treating both early and late stages of periodontal disease to help patients manage their symptoms and achieve a healthier smile.
Root canals are a common procedure performed in the dental practice as a restorative effort to save a tooth with an exposed nerve. Whether the nerve is exposed due to excessive trauma or widespread decay, a root canal may be necessary in order to preserve the natural tooth. Root canals have a fairly well known reputation for being painful, but they actually can provide relief from some of the worst tooth pain imaginable.
Nitrous Oxide Sedation
Nitrous oxide is a mild sedative commonly used in dentistry to help patients be more comfortable during dental treatment. It is a great option for younger patients or patients with dental anxiety as it can help them to feel relaxed during procedures, simply by breathing in the gas through their nose. While under the effects of nitrous oxide, patients typically feel happy and calm. Nitrous oxide is a great sedative option for patients to be in a tranquil state during dental treatment all while still being able to communicate with the dentist.
At Bender Dental Care, we are here to serve the entire family. Offering pediatric dentistry services, we educate your kids about oral care and health. We are providing preventive guidelines to ensure a bright and healthy smile of your child. Along with providing training on oral hygiene, we provide pediatric treatments by experts who specialize in working with children.
A dental sealant is a thin plastic coating that can be applied to the chewing surfaces of teeth to prevent tooth decay. Dental sealants are primarily used for children, whose teeth have deep grooves. These grooves are difficult to clean with traditional brushing and flossing methods. The sealant forms a barrier that prevents food and bacteria from collecting in these grooves.
Dental fillings are used to treat cavity holes in teeth. They are also called restorations or composites. Fillings may be made of gold, silver amalgam, or other substances that look like real teeth. The material is put into treated teeth where tooth decay has occurred. Dental fillings strengthen decayed, broken, or cracked teeth. They also prevent future tooth decay by closing off the area where food can get stuck and cause cavities.
