Bender Tips – What You Should Know About Porcelain Veneers

If you are unhappy with the appearance of your teeth and smile, make the move to do something about it! Many of our long term patients have inquired about how they could improve the appearance of their smile, and are shocked at how easily  it can be. As dental procedures continue to evolve patients are given more options than ever before. In the case of porcelain veneers, they have become a very popular way to repair a variety of dental problems. These veneers are made from an ultra-thin layer of porcelain dental material. How thin is ultra thin? Porcelain veneers are about the thickness of a fingernail. They are custom-made to easily and comfortably fit over and mimic your natural tooth structure. Another important quality to consider is the fact that the porcelain used resists stains better than your natural tooth enamel. When applied correctly, they can last between 10 and 20 years. We at Bender Dental Care recommend this procedure, as it is is relatively simple, and the results are truly beautiful!

There is no doubt that one of the reasons that porcelain veneers are so popular, is that the procedure is fast and simple! Patients will typically need to visit our Elgin, Illinois office twice to be fitted with porcelain veneers. Why two visits? The first visit will involve Dr. Bender shaping your existing teeth and lightly buffing the surface to prepare them for the veneers. Once that is completed, our dental professionals will make an impression of your natural teeth. This impression will then be used to create your custom veneers. Once the veneers are produced Dr. Bender will have you come in for a second visit. During this visit your teeth will be cleansed with a special substance that will help the veneers adhere to your existing teeth. The final step is using bonding cement to permanently affix the porcelain veneers to your teeth.

Why Porcelain Veneers

The simple truth behind the popularity of Porcelain Veneers is how perfectly they can be used to repair a wide range of conditions, including; gaps between teeth, chipped teeth, stained teeth, small teeth, and more.
